The M65 Extreme Cold Weather Parka was introduced 1965 as the thirdparka of its kind of the US Army. The first Parka was the M 48, whichwas a sort of prototype which has been produced only 3 years. The most noticeabledifference to the M51 is the unbottonable hood and the Nylon-Liner.Fashionable it became in the middle of the sixties, when a new youthmovement in England discovered it as protection of their expensiveclothes from wind and weather: The Mods. During theirrideouts with Lambretta and Vespa scooters they carried it as a kind ofraincoat over their suits.
